Linear GoId(I) Derivatives with Bulky Phosphine and Imidazolato Ligands. X-Ray Crystal Structure of l-(C 6H11)3PAu-2-/-Pr-Imidazole • C6H6

By reaction of a 1-unsubstituted imidazole (imH) with alkali and R 3'PAuC1 under phase trans fer conditions or in M eO H solution R3'PAu (im-./V) compounds were obtained where R' = C6H n or r-Bu, and imH was imidazole, 2-/-Pr-, 4 -N 0 2-imidazole or benzimidazole. When the Ph,Sb (or Ph3As) hom ologue was reacted, polymeric [u-(2-methylimidazolato-Ar,/V')gold(I)]„ was obtained, together with (Ph3Sb)2AuCl. The X-ray crystal structure of l-[(C 6H n )3PAu]-2-/-Pr-imidazole confirmed that the gold atom is linearly coordinated (177.0(1)°), with A u N 2.019(5) and A u —P 2.255(2) Ä.
